flensburg
i went to flensburg in germany to pick up my car. let the fun begin. i will spend today only cca 45 minutes by transporting to and fro work, instead of two hours.
i also went shopping in there. i actually didn't need anything, but when i saw prices, i couldn't resist: i got 128 mb memory stick for my dv camera. that was quite upgrade, having pathetic eight megabytes included with camera.

that concert
yep, i'm here, streaming. although not so excited, 'coz we're doing by vindoze media only, and it was damn tricky, yuck. last year it was up in five minutes, thanks to easy cute quicktime broadcaster.

drops?
i've just noticed a medicine package in a shelf. it says Resoplex Nr. 12 and no, it is not some drops to cure stuck nose, as i would deduct from my native tongue, it is just some echinacea homeopathics.

i was just offered a car. how long one have to thing before buying his/her first car? well, i take it for the first ride to home and back. but it seems to be a good value for its price. and the size fits me. it only doesn't have automatic shift, but i will learn to live with it.

forty
i woke up badly this morning, missed my bus and even dropped my ibook when one of two important pieces of plastic on my aotearoa bag broke. i will bash steve as i stayed up late to two a.m. watching his, well, entertaining presentation (with drop outs thanks to a big demand i guess) to see some new powerbooks.
nada. they have some new cute things and i may end up getting one or two of them but no speed bumped twelve inch with under-lit keyboard and superdrive priced as current combo. sigh. warned by the morning message (well, i guess now i'm old enough to have two computers and to stop carrying one to and fro like a cat does kittens) i wanted to get the current but it takes two weeks to get one with english keyboard.
now i stop bothering you and hopefully myself too about the thing. anyway, well organized two kilos of joy which needed about two tons of raw materials to be made from and which costs the same as forty family shelters for those surviving tsunami.

violin, detail
i found myself today getting quite exciting job for the next saturday. if nothing changes, i will be a main camera man of that big concert. last year i was providing internet broadcasting which was quite cool job as the big mac g4 did the job without a drop. i was just collecting data about visitors and viewers. the stream was about twelve hours and some of the people watched almost the whole show. so, this year i won't have so much time to enjoy my friends but i will have another experience, another bullet in my curriculum vitae. and i guess i'll be in charge of the streaming, too so i will paste the link here so you can enjoy my dogme shaky hand.
lazy & lucky
yeah, i'm so lazy! i went to another town for my language lesson, spent almost one hour in a bus, and even came, well a bit late to doors of my class, but then instead went to close swimming pool and swam one kilometer. plus spent quality time in steam bath and had even some sauna smalltalk. so i was actually practising the language.
btw, what you are thinking about when you are swimming?
at some point, i found out that i don't have my locker's key. i was in panic for a second, but then i calmed down, as i remembered that i am in a lucky country where people, instead of stealing, go and buy that thing themselves (apart from losers, but they usually don't go to swimming pools). so i just found life guard and tell him my story and he, after he asked for my locker's number, gave me the key, which one guest found on soap dispenser (stupid me! i knew it. i've been developing a technique of remembering the place i left the thing instead of looking for it. but this time "it" wasn't there). believe or not, i even didn't go to check the locker. i enjoyed my swimming and as you can realize, lately found my laptop there. yey.
i catched myself having san francisco time on my laptop to know what the guru steve is doing. well now he's having lunch, the dices are thrown and i hope i'll be doing the magic click tonite.
hey and i've bought that ratatat on itms! it's so funny music. i've noticed i'm listening the music i bought with more passion. sharing is good but i'd never download music anonymously. mostly i'd get stuck not knowing what to look for anyway. this one i got recommended by Andrew Womack at the morning news blog. there are another cool songs there, too.

bottlepuncture
thank you, guys, for all the wishes, messages, phonecalls and skypecalls you were disturbing me with all the yesterday. i got even cute one at half past midnite, the time i was born. i wish i could celebrate with all of you together. but i appreciate how technology makes easier to keep in touch.
i went yesterday to my colleagues' place to have a birthday party. on the way, i bought a bottle of creamy rum at a petrol station, to decorate our eye scream, as the only alcohol on the party. but we didn't open it, as there was finally a woman by the table who can't drink. today in the morning, on the way back, they gave me money back, as i kept the receipt. i added 150% and bought myself an hour of acupuncture. about twenty needles would help my blood to behave and prevent various allergias. and it was pleasantly relaxing, i guess not only because of that needle in my neck... i recommend it to everybody.

choice to choose
today i've had a nice conversation with my good friend living in china, maciek, who is the brain of the cool project choice to choose - everybody should have it! they have the goal of helping the poorest children in the rural china, to get an education. you can use the web site to donate to their projects or to sponsor a child.
i've agreed with him to investigate about getting more traffic to his website by implementing rss and bloging. anybody having an idea?
there are two positions for english teachers since march, 2005. six or twelve months, accommodation and food plus $500 a month.
btw, maciek being behind a censoring filter can't read my blog. have i written there something too democratic? is there a way how to cheat it, using e.g. vpn?
this is maciek's address. he still obviously hasn't chinized his name.

netiquette
concerning hoaxes, i've found good netiquette pages, in this case rule 4, Respect other people's time and bandwidth:
Today, it's as easy to copy practically anyone on your mail as it is not to. And we sometimes find ourselves copying people almost out of habit. In general, this is rude. People have less time than ever today, precisely because they have so much information to absorb. Before you copy people on your messages, ask yourself whether they really need to know. If the answer is no, don't waste their time. If the answer is maybe, think twice before you hit the send key.in case of tsunami casaulties, think three times. don't waste people's emotions.
boy found
one horrible story with good end. i was touched by the message bellow, but before i sent it to my entirely address book, i took a short look at reliable hoax pages and read there that the swedish boy reunited with his family by the end of december, as confirmed here. unforunately, this link to the hospital's pages was deleted from the original message. now it contains pictures of another child:
original message:
Sophia Michl is 10 years olds. She is German. She looking for her parents, Mr. Norbert and Mrs. Edeltraud Michl.please take your time to investigate about an event before you spread a message. see an example in this story.
original message:
Looking for his family. Please send this to all - we mean all! - the people in your entire network. Nobody knows who this boy belongs to! The boy about 2 years, from Khoa Lak is missing his parents. Nobody knows what country he comes from. If anyboy known him please Contact us by phone 076-249400-4 ext. 1336, 1339 or e-mail : info@phuket-inter-hospital.co.th

windstorm
today there was a windstorm in my area. i didn't know the forecast and went to a port city for shopping. it was so windy that people didn't feel safe outside. i saw many roofing down on road streets, broken branches and mess of advertising magazines and turned trash bins. i mean it was nothing compared to e.g. carlisle, but there are three people reported dead. nothing compared to s/e asia, but this time it was closer.
disaster's reflection
it's cool to be a canadian...
from World's Deadliest Disasters:
The Canadian government, until January 11th, will match any donation to major relief operations working from Canada. In other words, you double the size of your donation if you send money this way, rather than by sending it directly to an affected country or donating in your own country.
from World's Deadliest Disasters:
1556 Jan. 23, Shaanxi (Shensi) province, China: Most deadly earthquake in history; 830,000 killed.

volleyball & bike
huh missed a post eh? okay i have a good excuse: i played a very good game of volleyball with jo, ni and hp. i always enjoy a lot playing with them, even when we just practice or tease each other. they're good team. we also played a two - two game and i like it like that, running around and fun, also not so great chance to hit somebody by a smash.
what would i have been writing about? probably about my first bike ride from my workplace to the bus station this year. i had to glue new lights by a tape (angola's fitakola) as i didn't have time to put the holders on. it feels silly to blog about weather, but dood, i had no gloves neither hat and i was fine. yep it's pretty warm up here right now.

yoo hoo, i've just received my the country-i'm-working-in's residency card. funny enough, its citizens don't have any i.d. cards, only passports when they travel out. so, somehow i'm more -ish than -es now!

blood & phill
i went for an interesting blood test in the morning. they let me relax for fifteen minutes (you see i was skyping in the night and wake up at six so i had difficulties to stay dreamless), and took my blood sample. then they squeezed my arm by that old fashioned apparatus for blood pressure measuring, for, dude, looooong ten minutes. i was already wawing goodbye to my right hand when they took another sample and released the poor ant house. they will compare those two samples and luckily tell me why my coagulation is tricky last three years.
i got a forwarded message from my girl friend from aotearoa that her former husband, father of one of her child and my friend has died as an innocent victim of a road accident when he was just sitting in his car in a friends driveway.

We are all upset about the tsunami as well. Phill had been predicting some catastrophe and we are curious that he was unconscious for it. Maybe his soul was needed on another plane at the moment?rest in peace, phill. if you can do there on the other side something for those who are in need, please do it. i know you would.

to donate
if you haven't decided how to donate for aid to south asia, decide now. even the amewican pwefident has realized it is needed. i wonder how much he gives.
i donated by another website care2 (direct link) sent to me by macziek (who, btw, maintains choice to choose). sixty seven dollars give a shelter for the whole family.
care2 is cool website, i've learned that

working again
after ten hours and 1100 kms on highways and bridges and few hours of sleep in my driver's place (so i haven't met my flatmates yet), i'm back in my working life. i have to pay a couple of bills and re-start danish language course, but there are some days in january to look forward to:
- my birthday,
- steve job's keynote and hopefully announcing a new powerbook i'm going to purchase in january, too,
- that big concert where i'm going to organize quite exciting web streaming, and to meet lots of friends,
- going to norway, again.

albums 2004
i'm just listening to some music i got on apple store and thinking about making a mix of my tenish favourite albums i listened the past year. i hope there was at least ten of them as i very often get stuck with one or two for a couple of months :)
i don't have all my music on me here but i can look it up in a cool app iTunes Catalog (was it my first bought shareware or that cool screensaver Traveler's Clock by Illume Software?). so, here i go. no preferences, sorted alphabetically.
Air: Walkie Talkie
recommended by frantishek. he played it to me in good acoustic of his room, the song with banjo, hoping to push me to some music production, reminding Introscan. he is very patient. in last years, i haven't touched a string. i'm so lazy student so my last chance could be computer music. but it takes a long way, as we can hear in Air's music. i've seen an amazing clip from them and, well, i can't wait to see a concert.
Anggun: Open Hearts
influenced by the best movie i've seen last year, Elsker dig for evigt (dunno why translated to Open Hearts instead of I Love You Forever) i looked for this cd when my friend jo needed the last song for her tape mail (at last, she recorded it from the dvd we all watched so it was even more authentic). the music and lyrics is so easy to understand, like in Little Things.
Blue States: The Soundings
my first iTunes Music Store's purchase. recommended by a blogger. dood, which one? but i agree to listen to it over and over. my favourite is the instrumental Leaning In, where the rhythm is supported by drum sticks' each other clicking reminding me great times of our nameless band. when a distorted guitar comes, it feels like my most favourite kiwi woman Bic Runga's Election Night. it feels good.
Jan Burian: Unaveny valecnik
i didn't go to many concerts last year but this one was just excellent. Jan played for only fifteen people with such warm heart. i liked this album for its connection to scandinavia by poet benny andersen.
Manu Chao: Clandestino
i know, that's an oldie... cirda's favourite more than ten years ago. but something needs its time. i'm so much enjoying the international aspect of the music and its liveness.
Paul Van Dyk: Out There And Back
harkonnens, my friend vladimir would say. i've been listening to this set while chatting. special music for special occasions, but it belongs here.
Psapp: Tiger, My Friend
i got a free single In My Head from itms and loved it so much that i purchased their debut album. i like when they use toys and other funny sounds. imagine Iva Bittova playing with a sampler.
Röyksopp: Melody A.M.
recommended by one crazy dutchman, i thought they're from netherland but are they from norway instead? it's three years old but Eple is so catching that if you've heard it once it stays in your head until you hear the album. there are some cool detail, just the hi-hat in the end of the same song. it's good to have friends with good music.
Sarah Mclachlan: Afterglow
this special girl made a special videoclip about her donation to the third world. i heard her first when she was a guest at Steve Job's keynote.
Tanita Tikaram: The Best Of
i can't think of anybody could be so touched as Lovers In The City and so happy as Happy Taxi. i always knew her song or two so now i'm so glad for this collection.
Värttinä: Aitara
this is finish album which four years old doubravka from czechia already knows by heart. a present from my finish friends, it was the most played album around berounka river friends.
well, eleven is enough. please send me a comment if i missed an important album to hear. i'm pretty sure there's a few...

travel
i'm on my way to my recent home. we're just passing oslo and going south by the bay. snow has gone.
as you could see, i've already broken my new year's resolution, to blog every day. i was around that nice girl and went countryside skiing, too. we wanted to watch city of gods but we couldn't turn on english subtitles and although i saw it and understood half of the words, we gave up and went to do some abracadabra instead.
